Back on LandA Chapter by Hannah Olivia“Wow, honey. Good job holding your breath!” Mother said to Bernice as she resurfaced. “I told you I was good at it.” “You most certainly are.” Mother started to pick up the bath toys and place them into a bucket that was on her left. “What are you doing?” Bernice asked. “Bath time is over. Aren’t you glad?” Mother smiled, and plopped the mermaid toy into the bucket. “Not really. While I was down there I met a mermaid.” “Oh, did you?” Then Bernice realized something. “And I didn’t even say bye! Can I go back down, Mommy, just for a second?” But by then, Mother had already pulled the drain plug at the bottom of the tub. “I’m sorry, sweetie. Maybe next bath time. You can wear your bathing suit again, and then you’ll get to say goodbye to your little mermaid.” Bernice agreed to this, stood up, and stepped out of the tub. Mother wrapped her with a dry towel, and used another towel to dry her hair. Mother grinned as she glanced into the bucket where she had put all the toys. She picked it up and but them away under the sink, after which she led Bernice out of the bathroom before shutting off the lights. “I can’t wait till next bath time.” Bernice said. © 2012 Hannah OliviaAuthor's Note
