Alive TonightA Poem by Hannah PaigeThe sky is a black blanket in the night There’s walls of sky into which the dark slammed But stars that shine with an endless light Glint with hope for those consumed, for the damned The smoke of bright flames reflects in glazed eyes A shout, an echo " and then not a word Regret the misfortune of those who lied For truths they tell can no longer be heard A boy dances on his toes through the skies His laughter liberates the charcoal night The people below watch with bloodshot eyes He winks for the second star to the right Morning breaks free of the eternal night Forgiving, forgetting, hope comes with light © 2010 Hannah PaigeReviews
