I Don't Miss YouA Poem by Hannah Paige
I saw you the other day
in a basement lined with smoke It was the first time in a year and I could barely even look We haven't spoken since last fall but I heard you're doing well And maybe it's not fair to say but babe I'm proud as hell. And I don't miss you but I might at well. And I don't love you but I remember how it felt. I got drunk the other night and forgot how to sleep I closed my eyes and waited but it never came to me I thought I'd dream of you but I don't remember how you sound So I listen to the absence of your voice in my house. And I don't miss you but I might as well. And I don't love you but I remember how it felt. I saw you the other night on a bookshelf lined with dust The photograph had faded and a crease divided us I shuffled through that old shoebox found some ribbon and your shirt And I tried to read your letters but I couldn't bare the words. And I don't miss you but I might as well. And I don't love you but I remember how it felt.
