No Hope For Tomorrow!A Poem by Hannabal_MarieA story about how our pasts can infect our futures, told in the frame of mind as two lovers. I was inspired by another poem called "She Is Today" by Klanc, via here: www.writerscafe.org/klancIn the world of sorrow
there is only yesterday and tomorrow tomorrow seemed bright and gay but dark and gloomy was yesterday Tomorrow was in love She spoke of bliss and happiness Yesterday was nolgastic of the things he already missed She found him exciting She loved him and his flaws but he couldn't get past the shadows of which his yesterday's cast "I love you" he said despite his obsessions "...but I can't get over all of my yesterdays lessons" Tomorrow smiled and said with glee "love, you need only trust in me.. ..you need not think of all this" and she leaned in for a lovely kiss Yesterday didn't know what to say She was far too bright for his taste she cared far too much for him all this happiness was simply a waste how can she be so damn happy in a world full of sorrow She isn't who she says she is She simply CAN'T be tomorrow "dear, fear not, I am your future I will be by your side promise me you will love me and I promise you a bride" Pain ate at his heart of all his insecurities so he made false accusations as he fell to his knees "You fake! You liar! You demon of fire! You are far too good to be true all my past I was hurt and used so you expect me to believe you? how can you sit here and be so loyal as if you were some god damn royal? you tell me you love me but that isn't true. I'm sorry, tomorrow, I don't trust you!" Tomorrow started to cry tears ran down her cheeks she cried for days, she cried for weeks Tomorrow wasn't so bright before too long but yesterday still kept so very strong He kept reminding her of all the pain and all her tears would start up again he smiled a smile of pure devilish glee he said: "oh hush love, simply follow me" he brought her down to his sad little town and lost her on the way back home her hopes and dreams unraveled at the seams as she walked the streets alone Her glow faded, Her innocence lost all this came from yesterday's cost Her last strand of hope broke on that day and there is not really much more to say So if you are curious; dear reader, dear friend you can probably still catch her she doesn't stray to far away from the before and the after She lurks between tomorrow and past between the realms of sorrow she isn't herself anymore, I fear There is no hope for tomorrow © 2014 Hannabal_Marie |
