Done to you...done to me

without an us nothing can come to be

a knife that's plunged into one's heart

making one leave...breaking two apart

 

Tears of anguish, suffering, and pain

alone ask me "What is there to gain?"

"LOVE YOU STILL" is how I feel

dreams of you and I seemingly real

 

If all is forgiven why am I so cold

the story of our love never to be told

the victim I promise I am not

without you my heart's an empty spot

 

my soul is drowning in it's own tears

only you can lay to rest my fears

no belief in me so I will smile no longer

all the while each day my love grew stronger

 

APOLOGIES...words you don't want to understand

yet with you I've been as honest as I can

as you see me and walk right on by

that knife goes deeper til I pray to die

 

BETRAYAL...done to you...done to me

faded...gone...nothing that can ever come to be!!!

powerful as can be expressed in ways that allow the reader to connect with the meaning,
(the rhyme form is brilliant) the emotional context lends texture and paints a fire- red involvement,
as you opened your heart and poured out life, love, longing, happinesss and a sense
of unfinished, abandoned accomplishment, the way heartbreak sows the seed of discontent.
