In memory of Joséphine

In memory of Joséphine

A Poem by Hanalia
"

written in 2008 inspired by the lovely trilogy about Napoleon's wife Joséphine written by Sandra Gulland

"
Yesterday you deceased again Joséphine
Your nut-brown hair fell last time
Your voice died away without a single sigh
Your eyes seeked who was miles away.

Fragrance of lemon on your crumpled cushion
Lulled you to eternal sleep
The will wont command you back again
That possessed you in its heart for years.

You took him away also Joséphine
His corpus collapsed without your heart.
His star of fortune doesnt guide him anymore
He was pushed down from the marble throne.

The heart has risen for a hundred days again
To live up your remembrance once more
The word is glowing again on his ring
To remind him of his „destiny”.

Yesterday he deceased with you, Joséphine
My soul has fallen to the ground
Abandoned words on the sheets of a book:
La liberté ou la mort.
