About my experience with my partner who lost his memory because of his brain tumour

How are you doing?
It's been four months too long
You've disappeared
All you left was a song

A reminder of the beginning
Of the really intense emotions
A reminder of us
All curled up in passion

You came back
When I'd almost given up hope
You've missed the drama
It was like a tv's soap

So much had happened
Can I fill you in on some things?
Seasons have changed
And so has my feelings

While you were lost
In that head of yours
Things got different
Everything comes at a cost

Baby, I found myself
An inner strength I never knew I had
Credits goes to you
No baby, I'm not mad

In fact, I'm grateful
It sounds so weird and insane
But it was a wonderful experience
Falling in love again

For each and everytime
You had forgotten the past
My name was still etched
You've always remembered us

The first time was difficult
You thought you were eighteen
But I am twenty seven
Would you still be keen?

The second time was funny
You thought I was just a friend
But you had such a huge crush on me
You asked if I had a boyfriend

You saw my ring
That purple ring from you
You asked if it's special
You really didn't have a clue

I sat there blushing
As if we were on our first date
It sure felt that way
Well, at least this time I wasn't late

The third was not long after
We had another first date
Butterflies in our tummies
Our love never did fade

So while you were gone
Autumn changed to winter
We kissed in the snow
Laughing as our teeth chattered

You are still you
Twenty eight or eighteen
And for a brief moment
You were also nineteen

We had a good laugh
Your younger brother and I
You totally believed us
When we said cars could fly

I know it all sounds crazy
I know it all sounds too strange
And to add to it all
My feelings did change

Now I feel for you
More than ever before
And this time I'm really sure
You are worth waiting for

HAHA what an awesome write!!! Love the comedy in this. I know what it's like to lose my memory that's for sure it's nice to know what it's like on the other side of the coin. I like how you play with the memory loss. Sounds like an adventurous life, that is hard to get bored of, especially when you get the chance to fall in love over and over again. oh it was wonderful, falling in love again. same old brand new him. I chose to look at the brighter side of things, at least i got to know a different side of him. and it was really hilarious when he believed cars could fly and he wondered why he couldn't see any of it. i told him they need special license and they don't have the license in the area he was in. lol

HAHA i hope your partner looks at the brighter side of things too. it's easy for the caregiver to give up after awhile, but my partner is wonderful, and although the situation is less than ideal, he is really worth waiting for. :)

Yup. starting over, but the many first dates, first kisses etc make it worth it. falling in love all over again is really not a bad thing. :)

Realities are as we live them... I remember a movie of a pair of people that had so many first dates because "her" short term memory ability was taken away. Some special heart was voiced within your write.

thank you chris! 50 first dates with drew barrymore and adam sandler! that's the movie. i remember crying when i watched it just a couple of months ago cause i wondered if my partner would ever remember our actual first date. im lucky, he did just a week back on our anniversary. he had a seizure and his memory came back. this was written for him to relay to him about what has been happening and how ive been feeling the past 4 months. thank you for reading this and your comments :)
