Halloween Is ComingA Poem by SamhainEvenA young child wonders what he or she want's to be every year for Halloween, but children should focus less really on conforming to others and more on just being themselves. Develop individuality!Halloween Is Coming
Autumn leaves hang onto their trees as the winds through the branches soar Stores are stocked with nature’s harvest, but for me it’s something more; After hollowing out my pumpkin, I wonder What purpose, dear Jack, are you supposed to be for? Father helps to clear away the gunk and to put away the knife, So now choosing my own costume is my one and only strife; Should I be a lassoing cowboy who shoots pistols from a horse? Or should I be a business owner, someone from the workforce? No, I think I shall be a princess with little dainty feet, That way I can stand on my toes when I say “Trick-or-Treat!”; Maybe it might be even better to be a pirate, swashbuckling on the seas, I could jab my sword at folks, and make like my ship’s masts are the trees; Sometimes, though, I wish to see how I would fare As a banshee in a white sheet meant to scare; Maybe instead I should become a bee, But then I figure, maybe the best costume of all, Would be just being me! © 2014 SamhainEvenAuthor's Note
