Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn

A Poem by Hamze

We rise and fall.

We judge ourselves based on what others see relevant

We never stop to think. Why am I here? What motivates me to get up in the morning?

Are we motivated by the need to pay bills, to stay afloat?

Have we disregarded our hopes and dreams of our childhood as childish?

Have we ever tried?   What’s holding us back? Isn’t life just but a fleeting memory in time?

Where is Audrey Hepburn? Where is her casting crew in Breakfast at Tiffany’s I asked myself, while entranced in her timeless elegance.

We all tell ourselves lies to keep ourselves alive. But what if we told ourselves the truth? That maybe its OK to be disappointed and that discontent is the first necessity of progress.

Talk to yourself, listen to your inner voice and listen to your inner wishes.

It's never too late to start.

I simply adore this. Well written. Thank you for writing it. I often think about what motivates me to wake up and slug through another day and struggle so I think it's great I'm not the only one who ponders it.
