The woman named Hamna lived in the middle of the city where people’s dreams were as restless as reflections in the raindrops of lamp posts. Having sharp mind and undeniable talent she was one of the most successful writers awarded for her touching stories that inspired everyone. However, as any person who might find himself involved in a promising job and a beautiful lifestyle understands, there are always some skeletons hidden in the closets.

Hamna had once been a healthy young lady full of life and dreams but life happened to her. This unfaithfulness came from those who she held closest to her heart, pain of a divorce at a tender age of twenty two shaking her confidence and her mannish worth. The feeling of uncertainty was still ringing in her head as she moved in a society that appears to be against her.

However, the pain was there, and Hamna had her drive somewhere deep inside her, a flame that could not be put out. Every book she wrote was her biography in which she wrote her pain on paper as if it was ink in her pen. Writing, for her, was the safe haven that made her face the darkness and emerge a survivor.

There was night or two when the rain remained light and Hamna stayed at her desk, staring at the pile of crumpled drafts of the novels that she never got to finish. He was wrestling with a new piece, a story she was developing and which originated from her life, involving Hope. Inclined, she shut her computer and looked outside the window at the little City, its light resembled dim stars struggling to shine through the dark clouds.

“Perhaps it is now that one should release,” she said to herself. But in her heart she decided that she could not give up power to anyone else ever. Her sufferings, uncomfortable as they were, have informed her story; it was now their turn to give her back her words.

Negotiated not to change the version of herself that people judge but one who would claim her past, Hamna started writing with raw authenticity. She pulled it from her chest " her pain becoming her work. Every word turned into a symbol of women’s eradicating herself that depicted path from the shades of black into the ray of light.

As she told her story she started to feel that there was a ray of light at the end of the tunnel. These intact characters were a mirror of her experiences and successes, all of her characters portrayed the true life of human beings. People quickly began to follow her and stuck to her blog due to the genuine and real life style she portrayed; she was then able to make a comeback and be noticed again.

Interestingly, one day Hamna got the invitation for a literary award show that was held in Winter Blooms. A storm of feeling rushed over her as she got ready for the event. Isn’t it amazing that she had been taken through a journey that she could end up here celebrating resistance and invention to boot.

During the ceremony, being among other prominent writers and critics Hamna could not help but be a little nervous, but at the same time remain spirited. Everyone could hardly believe that her name was the winner and whenever it was mentioned everyone in the room listened. She took a deep breath also, she felt her heart was beating very fast as she reached the stage. At that time she recalled years of suffering, situations she has been confused and desperation pushing her forward.

Before the audience, the woman told not only of her victory but also of the difficulties she faced. “No matter what life takes from you,” she started ‘Not even the flame can be snuffed and the sparkle within; this verdict will appeal to the fans and they will have to continue living with the pain and let it build the fire for coming again.

Her speech made much sense to me and the subsequent clapping was more like a release " not just for her but for anybody out there that may have had all odds stacked against them. Hamna understood, or was reminded, that her story was not the pursuit of stardom; it was about giving a voice and empowering people out of tragedy.

Over the coming years Hamna’s story was told and succeeded in spreading hope among many individuals who relate to her. She was aware that experience made it possible to decide our fate but was not sufficient to determine one’s destiny. In each of the books that followed she inspires even more people to find their way to the Light, as she, herself rose like a Phoenix - from the ashes of adversity.
