Echoes of Lost Love

Echoes of Lost Love

A Poem by Hamna
"

I wrote it while crying at 2am sitting on a cold roof. Even felt the pain in my chest of broken heart. This poem made me recall the pain so, that i don't look back. Hope you can relate.

"

When one writes in sorrow, tears fall from my eyes

You’ve hurt me again with your goodbyes

I gave my all to you, body and soul.

But it seems that my love was never your goal

You say, “Let me remain in my own state.”

As my heart is full and my eyes still crave

You went to sleep while I left with pain

Alone on this cold roof, tears fall like rain

In pondering over the love that burned once so bright

The entire night, I buried memories from my sight

Guilt and remorse clamp my chest, a burden I can’t bear

All I desire is a chance to breathe some air

Oh, how I wish that we had never met

I would not be locked up in this regret

What makes you say this is really the end of our tale?

You turned me down, left our love to fade

Oh! You knew not what a longing still remains in my heart

But now I am left here like the last candle that burns in dark

In stupor I stand, where our dreams used to soar.

Still longing for what we had before
