But

But

A Poem by Hamkar
"

I had to write a poem in response to our trip to Normandy and what we learnt at school...

"

But

War might be finished,

But hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Life may still be here,

But so are the crosses.

The dead may not be here,

But the witnesses are alive.

Peace may now be here,

But for a large check.

The enemy may not be here,

But they haven’t disappeared.

Do you think I shoud make the ending stronger or leave it be?

I think that the ending is very strong as it is. It is 'thought provoking' you might say.
Maybe improve third line from the bottom?

I like the ending Hamkar..i was having a hard time reviewing this---
it's really such a strong poem--we have all become numb to war and
this poem throws that in your face...it's wonderful write but my comments
cannot to do it justice...and really i think the subtly of the ending is perfect...
...great poetry my friend...you really expressed yourself powerfully!!!
