Sleep

Sleep

A Poem by Cassick Dame

My eyes are heavy and my lids are dropping
My legs cannot stretch and my body can't move
My breathing is slow and my yawning won't go
My mind is at ease and my heart simply beats
The calm air drifts in the wind
The sun shines among the blue
The water trickles down a path
I cannot think of a better place
Not even a loving embrace could fulfill me
Not a smell of lavender and not soot
Not a cuddling ocean
Not a sleeping pet
Not much can help me
Not anymore
So lay me down and let me droop
Down with my eyes, legs, and breath
Let my mind find its rest
My heart too cannot break
Because this is a loving embrace
