There The Sun Rose In The WestA Poem by Cassick DameThere the sun rose in the West And the blue ground rocked The green sky, it expanded away Ah, I knew this wasn’t the best way to go Though, what can a boy do? The Gods, they apprehend and detain No mortal can withstand us! None can change us! And they live all high and mighty All livin' their lives The tides changed an’ no one believe ‘em no more And there fell a chain in their mind Though, what can Gods do? It is becoming overdone It is out done Not much longer can it go these days An' no longer can it go this way Though, what can be done! Each leader’s got a spirit that goes against the state and the order Each man of freedom has some line that can be crossed Either one means they've done nothin' at all And death is the only promise kept Though, what can a person do? Seeing nothing going well an' nothing worth my dwellin' mind 'Cept for a few who I, I don’t mind Who are giving me peace in my time Her eyes of rust I still seek Her mind I trust no matter how weak I be Though she don’t care and ain’t going out for me An' her smile it’s for anyone but the bleak Her hands, I dream Are soft and tender An' her heart, it seems, it’s made of stone and timber I keep falling into the murk The thicket is a maze It’s all some kinda craze! Though, and please tell me this Though, what can a boy do? What can a boy do when his dreams are beyond belief? © 2016 Cassick Dame |
