Barren Land

Barren Land

A Poem by Matt
"

Something I came up with on a particularly unfortunate night...

"
I used to fly into this city
Til I gave these wings up for a dream
Yeah I'm a liar and you know it
I walk a fine line of deceit

You used to crawl into his mansion
Despite the bruises that he leaves
Yeah you're just hopeless and you know it
Just don't go blamin' me

They say that good comes from destruction
But they've never seen the real thing
They're the liars and I know it
But you know they'll just blame me

They say that good comes from destruction
Well that only happens in the movies
They're naive and you know it
But it doesn't mean a damn thing

You brought me my destruction
And I remembered briefly in defeat
I used to fly this barren city
Til I gave these wings up for a dream
