Beating for a PurposeA Poem by HaleythePoetThe way my heart speaks to me and others.
My heart is screaming at you
Can't you hear her You've known her not nearly long enough to love her Or for her to love you But that did not stop you from ripping her apart So many times has she been used So many times has she been broken But still she beats hard She beats for a purpose And that purpose is to find someone who will treat her right Every beat she gives Every thump I feel Is her way of saying "Hang in there." Every heart has a lullaby I thought mine sang for you But you did not want to listen to her song You don't deserve her love You don't deserve her care When she was breaking, you were not there My brain says "Lets get back out there." But my heart whispers "Shh, not yet." Some people would rather feel pain than nothing at all But for me, my heart, and my brain We all say "We are waiting for the one who will appreciate the lullaby, no matter how soft it may be." My heart is smiling now Though not at you She is smiling because you can no longer hurt her. She beats for a purpose And that purpose is not you.
