Innocence of Death

Innocence of Death

A Poem by HaleythePoet
"

A random poem I wrote from strong emotions. I actually got this one published.

"
Please forgive the innocence, the rose meant no harm.
You reach out to touch a petal but instead you find a thorn, a thin bead of scarlet forms at your fingertips.
A monarch lands on your shoulder, but only to turn to ash.
It reminds you of everything in the past.
Everything beautiful turned to flames, your broken heart is all that remains.
Isnt something missing, isnt something wrong.
Theres too much that cant be undone.
Most run from the rain, but to be happy you must dance in the storm.
A beautiful tradgety life can be, what do i have to do to make you see.
The feeling that stirs inside, sends you running away to hide.
You see the tears that ive cried, youve watched as I slowly died.
Every drop of rain that lands on your shoulder, turns into a black rose petal.
Gathering slowly at your feet, a black abyss that you cant seem to escape.
You see a light come through the clouds, but what could it be?
Could it be death coming home to me, finally to set me free.
