Do you think she may resent you because you represent her replacement? Some parents subconsciously resent their children, they feel that the child is, year by year, replacing them. It is almost as if they feel the child is slowly pushing them towards old age, retirement, uselessness. Perhaps your mother is scared of your youth and potential. Just a thought from an outsider.

Keep writing, dear poet, I adore your sorrow, it is familiar to me.
