Love Me the Way You Love Him

Hale Strider

I saw you when no one else did,

I smiled at you when no one would,

I thought I could make you feel loved,

I thought I could make you love me.

Three years it took for him to love you,

It took me one glance.

You look to him while I look at you,

From the stands.

Benched from the field, I wanted you to see me.

Like no one else did.

I spend nights dreaming about a mutual love.

Sure, I’ll have lovers.

They tell me they dream about my love and figure.

But, if we’re being honest,

I’m tired of all these boys just in it for the loving.

I need someone who understands, a girl.

Why don’t we escape and be ourselves.

If you are scared or ashamed just know that

Society, our parents, and no one else has to know.

I’ll never forget the day he hurt you.

You thought that “FINALLY, he loves me”.

He just took advantage, made you a fool.

His leaving, his scapegoat.

You adopted his gestures and moods, desperate for him to see,

That you love him.

But, it wasn't enough and now,

You have to live with the blessing in your stomach.

I was heartbroken, but you would never see.

I see the ways you look at him,

If only you looked at me that way.

Your passion for him burns so bright while his burns on a match.

My passion for you will never end.

I denied my passion for you for so long,

But now I know that I can't deny my feelings for you.

If I look into your eyes, I want you to love me.

I know exactly what I want,

I want you to love me the way you love him.

A wonderful poem for the emotion of love. I liked the old saying. Love find us. We don't find love.
"If I look into your eyes, I want you to love me.
I know exactly what I want,
I want you to love me the way you love him."
I liked and I understood the above lines. To be near someone we love and so far. Thank you Hale for sharing the outstanding poetry.
