A Truth of the World

A Truth of the World

A Poem by Valentin Velkov

The death of liberty

Comes not with a bang

But the rule of a king

Bringing equality to a hang

For if a man is unable

(And if to do this is a fable)

Stand beside his fellow man

Then freedom shall not come in hand

The rule of a king

May not be an open thing

For it could be a ring

That is encircling

All of anything

To overthrow hidden lord

The common man must be brought

To the same level

As tyrants who tremble

At idea of equality

To them and peasantry

Then burn the weed

That only does feed

Upon the suffering of society.
