As Seen on TV

As Seen on TV

A Poem by Hairy and Confused

TV shadows drift on his cheek
An Extreme Close-Up
Reveals the blade’s inconsistencies

The people in that box chatter
Pretending not to watch us
Whispering, they marvel at the similarities
Between he and I
Between the earth and the sky
Between my mouth and my eye

My orange eye
Sees the set
Upon which he drapes his armour
Against me

I lift the curtain
See the artists all are working
The orchestra still rehearsing

Laughing he draws it closed again
Turns back to the TV
Its shadows make him static to my eyes
