I'm Being Selfish?

I'm Being Selfish?

A Poem by Reeling and Writhing
"

"Suicide is Selfish".

"

You’re the one making me stay

Here. While the bars crack my bones.

One side is noxiously warm.

The other is a freezing spike.

The bottom is soil and the top.

Is an emptiness I can’t explore

Because it would be wrong.

You’re the one making me stay

Here. While every twitch

Shoots lightning through my

Veins. Every step hurts.

Every breath is the reason why.

And everything else feels

Like it’s melting off of

Me.

You’re the one making me stay

Here. The pain of the nothingness

Leaves nothing but pain.

I’m the weight on the rope

And my tribulations are heavier.

You’re pulling me to the ground

And it burns like nothing.

You’re the one making me stay

Here. Just because you liked

Who I used to be.

And because you want

To be reminded of a corpse,

I limp about in this hell

Of hells.

You’re the one making me stay

Here. Because your look of

Happiness is worth

All of my suffering.

You don't know that

I can fight this,

But you seem so sure.

You're the one making me stay

Here. Because every time I get

Close to the edge, the glimmer in your eyes

Pulls me back.

You have the audacity,

The nerve,

The spine,

The heart,

To tell me to stay alive.
