Wanna Play?

Wanna Play?

A Poem by Holly Mason

squealing children run about
inner child come on out
stay and play, horse around
spinning and twirling, falling down
swing so high see toes in heaven
whipping, sending ,turning seven
balloons bouncing ,cake covered smiles
open presents ,screeching wild
messy fingers come to a stop
musical chairs, hop hop hop
squealing commences, fun in the air
all the way down to the last two chairs
fun delight in children's hearts
childhood is where laughter starts
the best days that blast away
but memories fondly forever stay

Hi Holly. A delightful write about the memories of fun and games of childhood that calls out to our inner child. A fund read. Skillfully crafted rhyming couplets. Imagery is good as are the descriptives. Through the lens of your eye, you paint a vivid picture of this play that any reader can appreciate and see in their mind's eye. Flow is good as is the line to line transition and breaks. Nice rhythm and enjambment. Rhyme is good. A good mix of near rhyme and near perfect masculine end line rhyme that is executed well in this piece. Nice use of internal rhyme. Lovely depth of feeling; you express beautifully the joy of these memories of our childhood that I can relate to. Good word choice as is the alliteration, assonance with nice consonance. Good closing lines. Well penned and an enjoyable read. Write on!

What a cute little poem, Holly! I remember those days. It is hard to get down and play when you are my age. I need to relax a little bit, don't I? Angi~
