The Gift of Trust

The Gift of Trust

A Poem by Holly Mason

If I could have any gift in the world...
A huge home with maids and zero depth pools
a walking garden with forever fresh roses
A fast car that gleams in gold
so many cars I lose count
A diamond that has been rendered the largest
with points that have no ending
A healthy body that can endure all weather
never gaining a pound, never anything less then perfect
An island all to myself with millions to spend
 surroundings of country club life
A famous moment where all know my name
cover of a magazine with others of fame
So many things a person could and would ask for
if they could have any gift in the world

non of this would do for me...
I would only like to have trust
to hold it
to know what it feels like
cherish it...the safety of this thought
trust is an errand I have never gotten to run
trust seems to be the safest place in the world
trust is the gift I want most in the world
to trust you to trust me...safe
safe comes with no slaps that smack
the soul ...everlasting,true,...trust

Very good, Holly. One typo:

non (should be "none) of this would do for me...

Great work.

'The Gift Of Trust' concept's good to think about life like life's a gift too living freely from stress or worries. Words're good and well structured. I enjoyed the write.

Nice work.
Trust is like baseball....'you win some, you loose some, and some get rained out'.
I think the trust that 'works' is the trust that is tied to realistic expectations.
But 'realistic' is no absolute so what can you do?
Take a chance when you think the consequences are manageable, I suppose.
Very thought-provoking piece.

This is wonderful Holly. Trust is indeed a rare thing. There only a handful of people I really trust. Others have fooled me into trusting them... you know what I mean... Love this poem. Davif

Trust that won't rust, that will unconditionally be your flying carpet, Hell I'd settle for a equal.
