Amazing Rubbish

Amazing Rubbish

A Poem by Holly Mason

A walking gift
a treasure just left
reverence suspended
your trash, my theft
corsets of not
a Holy Smoly find
1882 a book
with an envisioning design

the question I ask
is how it is thrown
every magic it finds
in its sleeves well known
an artist of time past
a treasuring of words
no I cannot believe
just tossed in the trash,Absurd!

Nathaniel Parker Willis
a writer of frame and mind
now my soul will savior
the poetry he left behind
I am glad I pick trash
look what gifts I find
so many amazing things
a history treasure so divine

Being a book collector, I am SO jealous, it's a beautiful book.

Lovely write and so very true. I have an old book from New Zealand, (where I'm from) usually worth about $80 - $90, the one I have has got an extra page, making it a presentation copy, it makes it worth more, problem is, no one knows what it's worth, possibly $200 or more, only way to find out is to put it to auction, and I don't want to do that.

Why am I telling you this you ask?
Because it was bought for 50 cents at a place that sorts through rubbish and sells off the "treasures"

Anyway, off track here, it's really well written, has a great flow and very easy to read.
Really liked it, thanks for sharing Holly.

Tammy.

Very cool, that you turned this experience into such an intriguing poem! You were meant to find that book - or it to find you. Good one, Holly!

Odd sense whilst reading this, like deja-vu, perhaps I've had a dream or maybe I lived in 1822 and that was my book! Ha. Such a sweet treasure, the book and your poetry here.
