Barefoot I dance

Barefoot I dance

A Poem by Holly Mason

Moist grass in between toes
sun hot on a summers body
the breeze sings a song
barefoot I dance in the mist
watch ,I do not care
tumbling, fumbling ,barefoot dance
a back ground of nature
a stream flowing my beat
spring shower, with a barefoot dance
no tags, no brands, no comparatives
I will dance barefoot in a crowd
my feet hit the sand
warm, warm ,sand surrounds toes
wiggle them freely I do not care
arms up, back straight, head motionless
barefoot I dance on a crowded shore
picnic baskets, laughing families are musical
barefoot in the sand we dance
evening settles, a bonfire setting
all will dance barefoot
we do not care for brands , tags
barefoot we dance as a family
we stop ,look around, whole family not here
barefoot we dance without FRIEDA
there is no music
shoes back on
we will wait to dance barefoot
until our family dances together

Uplifting and filled with the freedom of allowing our imaginations to roam wild like a child would. I loved the images this painted for me. Good work. Lydi**

wow!!! I am envious of Frieda, yes barefoot we dance as a family and without Frieda the music stops, now that she is back. The dance goes on and on. Thank you too on behalf of Frieda

What is it about being barefoot? It just feels so much more... connecting. A wonderful, upbeat, positive work. Really liked it.

A charming and delightful offering, your poem gives a good smile; no, not a silly smile... yes, this song dances barefoot, but its feet touch on more than sand. They touch on the heart too. Love, David

The freedom that comes when one divulges their selves from the standing idea of what it is to be a adult is always sweet and clear. We age and revert back to childhood joys that we should never have abandoned dance on

Thank you Tate ...these are the things little girls were up to...and behind them are the boys we can.. read more
A beautiful tribute to one of the greatest "dancers" on the site...I miss her words. This piece was so full of imagery; wonderful instances of thought spurred on by the "tumbling, fumbling" dance of someone who does so because they are experiencing pure joy. Sometimes we must dance as though no one is looking, because the inner self is really all that matters. Superb write, Holly.

A great tribute to a beloved poet. You are so right the dance is not fun until all the family dances together in unisom. Thank you for sharing your barefoot dance hoping you will have the right shoes on one day...Bravo...:)
