True Prey

True Prey

A Poem by Holly Mason

Lightening strikes upon the horizon
the breeze is heavy with rain
grasses move, swayed so sly
air ruptures the morning sky
glazed eyes stare with open heat
creepily, crawling, on death bringers feet
silently striking and hitting it's mark
a natures moment in thunders dark
cry for the prey, shed a sweet tear
for predators enemy is cowering fear
a death, a silence, now nature has called
coming with an enemy for the prey to fall
some pray for the prey ,but forget the beast
all has to sustain in the thunders world feast
a tiny fragment of a predators sullen cry
for all beasts know to live, something must die
