Burnt Out Flame

Burnt Out Flame

A Poem by Holly Mason

Boom of silence
upon night chambers call
darken the embers so slowly do fall
enter eternity with undue white mists
creeping halls surrounding raging fists
the embers call with red nighttime fire
yell her name she will hear your desire
lost love flame with eternity in white mists
losing control with rage of foe
come hither in all of this
burnt out flame
was the one to blame
keep her sir
but give me her name

Such a brilliant wording and message you bring to us here, beautiful woman!
I felt an eerie way of what I do admire so much, "fireman's" and this was touching me.
You have no idea, how deep this is... (at least for me), I loved the gothic feel of it, and the darker space, you embrace with your words... just fantastic.

feel like i'll encounter the crypt keeper any moment with this one. very dark, very enigmatic and very, very good! this write frustrates interpretive efforts but i think i like that fact. always a very enjoyable read from your pages, Holly.

Ha, thanks :-P

My pleasure!
This could be about love or an inner turmoil of self acceptance. Or perhaps the questioning of both...either way, lovely read Holly. You do dark mysteries well.

thank you there lovely lady
Amazing write Holly, dark and powerfully foreboding. I sense violence intermingled with love in this.

Welcome :)
It is kind of dark, but we as humans enter that place at times. It's like a blanket draped over our heads. Consuming our emotions. To trick us into feeling defeat. Great write Holly!

thank you so fine sir
You've well captured the properties of love as we often think of it...desire..
Fire... Embers... And mist. Eternal...

there's alot of rage in this, seems to be a downfall in love, "lost love flame with eternity in white mists, losing control with rage of foe". nice write!

This is a great piece - the beginning had a "Poe" feel, and the foreboding was well played out. Deep and dark for a sunny afternoon, but I thoroughly enjoyed!
