Winter that Wasn't

Winter that Wasn't

A Poem by Holly Mason

For it is late December now,
a time when the earth should be covered.
But looking out my window I think I see some buzzards.
We have been waiting months upon months,
to enjoy the white, fluffy, flakes,
but now there is nothing coming down from the sky.
Wish and wish until we cry.
No snowmen ,no sledding, no fun.
Bring out the snow, put back the sun.
What has changed this very season?
What is mother nature's reason?
She just needed to have a laugh.
This is not life taking weather treason.
So south ,down in the warmer zone.
Cold they are chilled to the bone.
Not prepared with short sleeves and mowers,
Mother nature ,better not want our blowers.
Now she is really having fun.
You would think it was almost over.
Come on, let it be done!
But no just one more laugh does she have to have.
Merrily she yells, hey just for fun,
let in the winds and unblock the sun,
the winter that wasn't has just begun!
