Worlds Walking

Worlds Walking

A Poem by Holly Mason

Slow pace is the past,
high pace life, so fast.
Come hither my friend.
Let us make it not end.
Armed with paper and pen,
we will have the world walking again.

I especially like the simplicity of this, of saying a lot with few words.
A good image, the world walking again.

I once met a Dakota Sioux Grand Chief he is a story teller.
He told me a teacher of his took him to a place in New Mexico where the stones walked. You title reminded me of that. He said they went to this place in the evening and they sat for about an hour and then they heard. Clump, clump, plop. And they walked up over this little knoll and they saw them. The rocks were forming in a line and walking along. WE will have them walking if we remember that slow pace from the past. To find our Nature again as it was long ago, and where do we want this world to walk. We first need to know where we are, then we must know where we want our world to walk. We want it to walk into a new place one filled with love and compassion, to a place of refuge, to a new beginning, to where Father Sky kisses Mother Earth, and we shout to our Mother we are here we are here. We are here for you Mother, you can make yourself new again. Thank you for writing Worlds Walking it is a good thought, I am going to ceremony tonight with a Lakota Chief I will take this thought into ceremony. He has a vision of uniting all aboriginal peoples together through a great treaty, the greatest treaty of all treaties. His family is the keepers of the Treaties and now he is the keeper, he has records of all those promises promised, all those recordings of promises that were never kept, all those years of heart break and suffering. But it is the new time now, it is the beginning of the becoming of what was once and now is found again. Rise up old Nation, rise up in the hearts of your young ones, once again they will have pride, they will be proud of their Heritage and culture. Join us Holly by simply thinking peace that is the only thought we need to rise about those who only think aggression. Make it happen through Rainbow Bridge.

Wonderful insight in so few words.

Simple and effective, very nice. I really appreciated your use of rhyme in this piece and I think it was very clever of you not to capitalize those longer 'extended lines', i.e., lines 2 and 6. Doing so makes it appear as a fluid part of the same thought, and indeed this whole piece has a very fluid and dream-like quality to it. Well done.

thank you very much for reading, reviewing and grasping
thank you so much
we create a world with our pens that will not end..

what we leave behind stays...whether put away in a box in an attic...or...published---or even read by a few close relatives and friends..we chronicle the times...and leave a snapshot in words of what has been.
