Highway Open

Highway Open

A Poem by Holly Mason

Passers by just think all is well
little do they know ,slowly we fell
into a pit so deep and so dark
never ending ,where do we start
first some weight and bad car parts
then drive over it till the hole starts
keep coming and going all around town
now look at the hole so big and so round
make a complaint ,yes write a letter
only to find you could of fixed it better
hole is now filled in and covered up
riding along again you drink from your cup
bump there it goes all over your lap
for another big hole, yet another gap
will it ever end, when did it begin
when you let your problems in
place a fake smile on your pretty face
cover your pot holes or lose the race

Too true . . . and the more time we spend ignoring our problems, the more and more problems we get. They never fix themselves

LOVE this! Especially the last two lines! Covering up, and filling in - so much of what we do every day. Also? I'm always so jealous of writers that can rhyme! ;) I can't do it to save my life. Really enjoying your work!
