Crushing Blow

Crushing Blow

A Poem by Holly Mason

I am so perfect,so beautiful,so everything
he wants me,so does he and he and he
I will get the job no problem
I am all that is amazing in this world
time will not damage me
the sun cannot hurt my youth
This is what she really thinks
up and down life's road
but it is 20 years later now
nothing pretty left a Crushing Blow

Yes Holly and sadly I am there now - not that I ever thought, 'i was all that', it's simply now I 'know' I'm not. Good perceptive piece.

now is when we learn who we really are that is the best part
and so it begins - the slow then sudden unravelling... why is that stranger in my mirror... very nice.

thank you for commenting
Isn't that the truth? What we see is not necessarily what we are.

thank you for taking time to comment and yes looks aren't everything personality never fades
oh god, yes...the illusion, the balloon bursts--

what we are left with, shattered dreams.

we cannot count our chickens before they are hatched...

20 years later, i hope i have something to show for it...just something...

i don't expect the world, just a small part of it.

nicely penned.
