ReunionA Chapter by HGRolenAmanda jolted awake. The last thing she remembered was falling over the cliff and splashing into the freezing water below. She remembered Bee's voice calling to her and the fierce waves trying to drag her under. Everything after that was a blur, but she remembered how scary it was, and her determination to survive. She looked around. She seemed to be in a bed, in some sort of room, but the walls looked like they were made of wood. A strange setting for the holo-walls to be on in a hospital. That's where she must be, a hospital... but then, where was all the medical equipment? She didn't even see a button to press to call for a nurse. She sat up and took a better look at her surroundings. She was in a small bed covered with a thin blanket. She stood up and checked herself for injuries. she had some bruises and scrapes, but other than that; she was fine. "What happened?" she wondered aloud. How was she rescued from that wild river? She noticed a door to her left and decided to see what was on the other side. She started walking toward it, but it didn't open for her to pass through. She bumped into it. "Ow." she groaned while rubbing her forehead. "What was that?" a voice said from the other side of the door. "She must be awake!" came another voice, followed by the sound of footsteps growing increasingly louder. Amanda stepped away from the door just in time to avoid being hit by it as it opened toward her. "Amanda!" exclaimed the person rushing through the door .Amanda stared at the girl in front of her for a moment in shock, Then yelled back. The two friends ran into each other's arms. "I thought you were dead!" Said Amanda. "I thought I would never see you again!" Said Sarah. They both stood back and took a long look at each other. "You look different." Stated Sarah. "So do you; you're hair's longer. Replied Amanda. Sarah shyly fidgeted with a lock of her now long black hair, then took Amanda's hand and said. "This place is really nice, Amanda. There aren't any holo-games, or Repulsor cars, but life here is still a lot better than being trapped in the dome." Amanda took a step back. "What are you talking about? This place?" Aren't we in the dome right now?" Sarah's eyes widened. "Oh, right. Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself. First, let's get you some food. You're probably starving. After all, You've been passed out for almost two days." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sarah led me into a room where there was a fire on one wall. She gave me a bowl of oatmeal and explained everything that had happened to her since the last time we saw each other. She told me about meeting the Doctor and becoming his assistant. She told me about a boy named Moses that showed her around the town and his pet wolf with red fur. She told me about the inhabitants of the town, from the Hendersons to the Baeks. Then she explained about what held the town together, the citizen's mutual love for their God. I listened, and for the first time in my life, I felt that I was hearing the truth. © 2019 HGRolenAuthor's Note
