Sinful Salvation

Sinful Salvation

A Poem by Travis Gibson (poetic heroics)
"

When an encounter is a rebirth.

"
baptized in the crevice
of her open lips
toothsome salvation is delivered
in the palms of soil'd hands

my whitish robe, ruined
burned over a funeral pyre
phantoms of my conformity
complain, in an empty cathedral

kneeling at her satin altar
flesh beaten to pulp, me
the quivering milquetoast
of closed door ceremonies

humbled skin prostrates, sacrificed
neath her bladed sexuality
a vibrant death and resurrection
paradise, rewritten by the sinners

the wolf is now the shepherd
her wicked bite... my church
satisfaction demands praise
tithe is paid in worship

Travis,
it is so good to read you again...i like this piece immensely...clever wordplay and multiple meanings allowed...part of it reminds me of Mary Magdelene and Jesus...part makes me think of the abusive priests...and then a thought of a woman being our salvation--without her love we are lost.
really good poetry, glad you are back and writing.
