Chasing The Night

Chasing The Night

A Poem by Travis Gibson (poetic heroics)
"

For you ma.

"
Her sweetest memories
Always come to me at dawn,
Dancing on that auric ribbon
Of ending night & beginning day

The creeping daylight
Invades the security of false hope
The night, o' the gentle night
Quietly fosters my selfish delusions

The harshness of light
Threatens to reveal obvious truth
And this brittle heart dares not
Face a single day... Without her

Seeking the comfort of darkness
I reject the approaching sunrise
Morning holds nothing I need...
Lest she has become the sun

Leave me to chase endless night
Blind to every coming tomorrow
Cemented to moonlight & shadows,
Petitioning heaven to give her back

I'm completely humbled by your thoughts, thank you.
The depths you go here are amazing. Incredible, impressionable, and at the same time, unlike anything I've ever read before!

I'm honored, and look forward to your thoughts.
I liked and I understood these words my friend.
"Seeking the comfort of darkness
I reject the approaching sunrise
Morning holds nothing I need...
Less she has become the sun "
The above lines. I wished for often in my life. Thank you Travis for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Was my pleasure and you are welcome.
There is a nod to the classical in this poem. You write a sorrowful tale of love's absence. It is poetic and heartfelt. I was impressed with your choice of rhythm and pace. It was a great poem that really spoke to me on a emotional level. Great job on this.

I read this twice, the first time I drifted into the intensity of it, the tragic picture you paint is incredible, terse! sharp! grey! gloom! my kind of poetry.
second time am reading this and it evokes the same emotions, the same kind of depth as before, that's what I call poetry.

well written piece friend, well written

That fourth verse... Reeks of seeking dark bliss... The uselessness of pining away at a gate without hope... Lost-love... Burdensome in the mightiest of capacities... Ouch...
