The Overly Amazing CatchA Poem by Travis Gibson (poetic heroics)For Gene, mourning you in celebration this year.
Three brothers stood, from eldest to least of age.
High noon made them antsy, hearts wanted to be uncaged. Then from under a bush, perfectly timed, came a wandering hare; A brief notion of want, lead to a grand brotherly dare. Challenge accepted, the eldest took ready hands out of his pockets. They locked eyes, he took a step and BOOM! they were off like rockets! They zigged and zagged between tombstones, blurring as they moved. The hare had blinding speed and a man on his tail with something to prove. Now two brothers stood, the youngest with high hopes, the other simply amazed. If the eldest catches the hare, the memory would last the rest of their days. A caught hare punctuated an exceptional victory of man, As did the golden stream of fear that flowed from his hands. © 2014 Travis Gibson (poetic heroics)Author's Note
