A Glass Held Up

A Glass Held Up

A Poem by Travis Gibson (poetic heroics)
"

A toast to my affecting Muse.

"
To all in attendance, whether you be few
or nations of the world.
Take up your glasses, drinking horns,
your gilded rhytons.
I have found a beauty worth toasting,
a muse in truest form.
Sublime is her shape,
and divine are her thoughts.
My eyes tremble at her glance,
and freeze to her gait.
Let us spill only the richest of wines,
our beaks dancing at the rims
of every glass, and he
who should lower his,
may your cup find only
dust and thistles for a year's time.
Now, let us measure our jubilation
in empty bottles and faded memories
come morning. Cheers!

Thank you so much, Rita. Cheers!
I loved the almost medieval aura in this poem! The word choice is enchanting and the rhyme scheme is enticing, I absolutely love it! Another fantastic poem, my friend!

Thank you, Rosie... you always leave me with a smile.
Wow, I love this. The words are so rich and expressive as if they were taken from the Gilded Age or from the book "Game of Thrones." This takes creativity and I couldn't help but think, "This poet is well versed and knowledgeable to be able to pull this off so masterfully!" I think I'm right...

My lips are sealed. ;) Again, thank you so very much for such uplifting thoughts on my abilities.
I pictured this in a great hall lit only by candles:

Take up your glasses, drinking horns,
your gilded rhytons.
I have found a beauty worth toasting,
a muse in truest form.

This is a very rousing toast. Excellent poem.

Aaahh...the muse. There is truly nothing better than writing "to" someone. My muse(s) isn't just one single person or thing, but rather an entire collection that I have bottled up throughout the years. Still, I find that your piece is something I can completely relate to in terms of emotion, thought and significance. Well done.
