Self Portrait

Self Portrait

A Poem by Travis Gibson (poetic heroics)
"

For WC... my first piece composed entirely on WC.

"

Dark, coiled locks cascade down

passing broad shoulders;

framing a chocolate brown face

with high cheek bones,

and a slender button nose.

Full lips that love to kiss

dreams and high hopes.

The strongest feature

are those eyes,

strangely, they hold within them

strength and weariness.

They've seen too much, but

still they refuse to shut.

They paint such a tragically,

beautiful portrait...

that I am glad to call my own.

You have painted a self-portrait that suggests your inner self by the things you say about your physical characteristics. That is not easily done and you did it very well. Your inner strength in the face of pain and tragedy shines through along with your readiness to love. Excellent poetry!

A beautifully done description of you. I love the way you speak on your physical features as well as what they represent (lips that love to kiss, eyes that have witnessed too much) I love it (:

a really apt description of a poet...eyes that see and won't shut, a pen that writes and will not run out of ink.. "full lips that love to kiss dreams"

beautiful..

we can only hope to kiss our dreams in greeting, not in goodbye.
