The King of Nowhere Land

The King of Nowhere Land

A Poem by Travis Gibson (poetic heroics)
"

nowhere to go

"

Banished prince of Queen's throne,

He has nowhere to call home.

Left with just shoes and attire,

His troubled head can't retire.

Breeze at his back, no steps to trace;

A boy walks with a man's face.

Such times kill--- he has to do something,

Keenly contemplating his new found nothings.

Bitter heart in hand,  he surveys the land,

Free of rule--- all his to command.

Standing tall, he tested all,

Already to low to fear a fall.

Never accepting a corner of bread,

Much to proud for the gesture.

Walking fearless where most don't tread.

Survive--- giving himself the lecture.

Never expecting his reign to last...

Self proclaimed King--- sips from his empty glass.

I'm sorry you had to go through this, I don't think I can imagine how hard this must have been. But you give such a creative and imaginative descreption of the situation. I absolutely loved it, especially the last two lines. I also really like the title, therefore I at first thought it was about a king until I read your note.
Excellent write :)

you're most welcome and I'm glad you got out of it :)
A sad and powerful poem. Hard when the street is your home. Education of the street make you wiser and more careful. I like the description.

i spent 16 months on the streets...so i totally get this. pride is a dangerous thing, it can deprive you of your basic needs...i never had to eat out of the garbage but it sure is no picnic, having no home. this is very keenly penned and exhibits some astoundingly good wordplay and brilliant language comprehension. i bow to your talent.
