What They Think

What They Think

A Poem by Travis Gibson (poetic heroics)
"

inspired by a fellow poet... for poets

"

you there, take up arms

shun all of your charms

behind ignorant eyes

our sweet FREEDOM lies

they stare from on high

watching the weak die

now, i say no more

STAND UP! this means war

ready your pen hand

write for your freedom

send their wretched clan

to HELL-- for sins done

draft razor thoughts in the BLACKEST of ink---

DEATH TO CRITICS! we no longer care what you think

good to know :-)
I like the sentiments. It's catchy. Has teeth to it. i like the lower case throughout and then all caps on the important words. Felt liberating didn't it? That "other" type of poetry has its place and I can respect it but writing from your heart and soul and being raw and honest is the real deal, in my book anyway. "ready your pen hand" that's like a call to arms - grab your ammo! "draft razor thoughts in the BLACKEST of ink..." that stands out as if to say be bold and dare them to try and wipe away what you have to write because there's no erasing this. And the ending..."we no longer care what you think." that's pretty raw and challenging. We're not saying you don't have a voice to, or that our way is better, we're just saying who cares if I misspelled a word on line 3 and the iambic pentameter-shammeter doesn't fit the scheme here and so on and so on. We're saying this is the poetry of our hearts and what makes us free and you can't take that away from us! (Now where's Mel Gibson and that 5 ft tall claymore sword at?!?! lol) Nice job Travis. I enjoyed reading this and the conversation. When we can interact and make each other think and get down to the heart of the matter, so to speak, the possibilities are endless!

Most welcome
I love the verve behind your words, Hero; I hear this in a preacher's cadence. That final couplet is a powerful message all by itself! Nicely expressed!
