Falling

Falling

A Poem by Travis Gibson (poetic heroics)
"

alone in the bathroom

"

down is my only constant

i've passed the bottom

landing seems impossible

i'm falling too quickly to think

reaching out frantically

but there's nothing to grab

panic whispers in my ear...

and i listen

it grips every inch of me

squeezing... and squeezing

the cracking sounds of my spirit

only frighten me more

somehow, right now ---

falling

feels much more like drowning

only gasps of air reach me

struggle and panic

are all i know

still falling...

panic continues to crush my spirit

and all i can do

is close my eyes

and wait to land

I can feel the terror in this - scary to have nothing to grab onto... Vivid write, I am thankful to be sitting...

Thank you for the review... I'm glad to know you could feel the emotion of it.
This sounds like a good old fashioned panic attack. That's what you do, grab onto anything, squeeze your eyes shut and breathe. The worst part is the waiting to land. Yep, been here, too. PS: If you are open to random spell checks, look at line 4, the first to should be too. I am wired like that and had to tell you, I hope you don't mind. Angi~

I don't mind at all... I'm particular in that way as well. Don't mind a mistake being pointed out..... read more

Thank you... I appreciate the wonderful review!
Very descriptive. You made it very easy to feel the weightlessness, hands scrambling to grab anything to hold onto. I especially liked the last line. In a piece that felt hopeless that last line keeps it from being so. There will be a landing..

Another strong piece. :)
