WHO ARE YOU ©

by Dorothy Sutton©

I know you’re an Indian as I’ve been told
but no one said if you were young or old,

In a lonely grave that’s deep and far
it’s got me wondering who you really are,

There’s a beautiful wolf standing at my side
but from my eyes my tears begin to slide,

Now this beautiful wolf’s disappeared and gone
Standing at your grave I’m the only one,

I wonder if the wolf is the spirit of you
because I saw that he was crying too,

But how did you die as no one will say
were you hunting or fighting on that day,

Did the white eyes shoot you in the head
were you badly wounded and left for dead,

Your braves were killed and tribes torn apart
the young and old ones it broke their heart,

Your braves were put in a hole in the ground
as the white eyes didn’t want to stay around,

Were you an old Warrior or a very young brave
who had long ago gone to your lonely grave?

i really love this one its different to anything else iv read. I think its mystical and interesting.
I love the whole story line to it, kept me reading. My favorite lines are:

In a lonely grave that’s deep and far
it’s got me wondering who you really are,

Did the white eyes shoot you in the head
were you badly wounded and left for dead,

And the last one they rhymed well :) keep writing i like your work :)
