Eulogy of Sleep

Eulogy of Sleep

A Poem by Heidi Causey

The smell of baby’s breath

The feel of pastel cotton

Soft little poof of breath

Small fingers causing knots-

In freshly brushed hair

We rock ourselves to rest

Peace set to sleep

We lay till I wake

Finding that you’ve gone…

That I am alone

Empty as morning comes
