A detailed account of many atrocities carried out by fanatics. Fortunately most people don't associate all Muslims with fanaticism. The ones that do are intolerant themselves. We all want to live in a world where all religions are tolerant to others. Where people can live in harmony and peace . Yes there is pain on both sides of the situation and everyone should work on reducing that gulf. You shouldn't have to apologise for being a Muslim.

And I am sorry that anyone would assume bad things about you because you don't look or worship the way they do. This kind of senseless hatred has been going on forever, it seems, and I'll never understand it. We are all the same, with by far most of us being good, and sadly a few bad.
You don't have to be sorry for being yourself. You have the right to be yourself doesn't matters what anyone else makes you feel. Just be aware of right and wrong and if you are right there's no point of asking for apology. Be brave and Keep smiling!
You don't have to be sorry. Just because one in a million people who are part of a group, be it race, gender, religion, country, political ect, doesn't mean that others who are part of that group are any less human than the rest of us. I've met Muslim men who have been extremely kind to me, almost all of those I've met have been. You don't have to apologize, because every group of people, unfortunately, has some people who don't get along. Maybe it was how they were raised, or mental illness, or something else. Every group of people will have some like this. It doesn't mean the rest of us deserve to be disliked because of those few people. You don't deserve the burden of being hated. You are a kind person on this site, and a good writer.
Now for the poem itself, it reminds me of spoken word poetry. That's the kind of poetry I like most, because it is spoken out loud. It is very emotional, and shows the pain you've been forced to go through by being misjudged. Maybe we need to understand that everyone is in pain as much anyone else is in this situation. Maybe we just need to see each other as the human beings we are, rather than our slight differences, and come together as one.
Thank you for sharing, it takes strength to talk about the suffering of the world, and try to overcome it.

Such a sad burden for you, an innocent person, to bear on a daily basis..how hard this must be for you HB. Your words are raw and honest and wise and you teach us what is real about your true Islamic beliefs. I am a Christian and I thank you for revealing these truths.
“This is not me who plays with cold blood”- so eloquent and poignant. Yes, there is much too much pain and indiscriminate, as well as biased, hatred in this world. Your lines graphically chronicle this. I agree that individual people should be regarded and treated on the basis of their own character, not by the actions of a few madmen. We are all children of a loving and forgiving God, and therefore brothers and sisters. For those Americans who do not believe in acceptance with “equal rights and respect”, “I am sorry” too. Well-penned, important and memorable write

That means-a lot to me Annette! I appreciate your kindness and thoughtful words. Love
Hate can never be explained or the despicable actions hate does.
We must look at people for who they are. See them, take a chance to see their soul and not a name tag they were.
You did a great job putting down hard facts then asking us to see the difference in a hater of life and a person of a different faith.

You are human and that is all that matters no matter your background you are still human. Do not be sorry for something you can not control, instead show us and other what people really should be like. All the death and suffering around us isn't in your control, but the more people are aware of it the more people will be accepted despite who they are. Also, I enjoyed your writing keep up the beautiful work. :)

As a Christian I thank you for writing this. It is good to hear from the heart of a true Muslim. It is also true what you write about many American's reaction to people of the Muslim faith . . . mostly from people of no faith (or people who pretend to have faith in God). We live in evil times--- not because of true religion as some try to assert but from the fear that arises from the twisted and useless forms of our respective faiths. In our Christian Scriptures, James has written: "True religion is taking care of widows and orphans in their need and keeping one's self from being corrupted by the world." We do this out of love for God and by the love of God. Attacking other faiths or peoples of no faith is not true religion, nor is this showing that we love God. True religion is the outward response to our knowledge of God. Even today many nominal (so-called) Christians see their faith as a means of puffing themselves up and claiming greater worth in the world and in the eyes of God. This is a twisted version of Christianity, and just as evil as so-called Muslims who kill the innocent on behalf of Allah. It is my belief that when a nation turns its eyes away from God it becomes more and more fearful and begins to see true faith as an enemy . . . no matter what faith that may be.

this works on a couple levels...I don't really think an apology is necessary because it is on those who judge because of religion or color of skin. As we should all know, a few bad apples are not responsible for all the rest...a drunk driver causing an accident doesn't mean everyone who drinks is bad...a teen-age driver texting and causing an accident doesn't mean every teen-age driver is bad...we stereotype way too much in this society...people are individuals and should be treated as such and for who they are..
I can hardly imagine the pain you are caused by this stigma...and I am sorry for that.
