I Won a Disease Lottery

I Won a Disease Lottery

A Poem by HB Rita
"

About ‘Adult still’s Disease’ I am suffering from.

"
I Won a Lottery
----------------
I ultimately walked away with the sickness sweepstakes;
Called 'Adult on-set Still's Disease.'
I didn't need it; it just came
It came like a tropical storm, and
Wrecked me as it evacuates the trees and plants,
Or you can say a quake with its upward development.

I remember,
I used to stroll in the green field and
pick cherry blooms for quite a while.
Remember,
I would sit under the sky on a sunset evening
and watch the falling leaves move.

Today, I am genuinely debilitated.
Today I need to slither to get up.
Today I am not suitable for an ordinary day-by-day life.

Today I live in torment,
I have no green, no yellow
What's more, everything is dark to see today.

This illness makes me distrustful,
It's startling to imagine that
I've scored that sweepstakes for this sickness.
I don't know what's in store for me
I don't know what will show up for next
Simply know, it has and
will remain there for the remainder of my life

It isn't easy to battle like this constantly
No!
Yet, I'm doing.
When it's all said and done, tomorrow isn't the day
Today is the day.

Furthermore,
I guarantee that consistently I will proceed with this way
I will wear boots once more.
I will take my mom to the specialist.
I will screw with my two adorable children once more.

Steel Disease discard me regularly;
Yet, it won't ever keep me down!

Author's Note

HB Rita
I am was recently diagnose with a very rare auto-inflamatory disease called ‘Adult on-set Still’s Disease.’ It is a disease that completely knocked me down for 21 days in hospital’s bed. It’s been two months now and still i am not able to walk or perform any daily action due to my swallow joints and horrible pain. I am gonna have to live with that rest of my life and it’s gonna take a whole complete year to heal my body. I am in high doses of steroids and daily injection, it has to be continue for eight to one year. This poem is all about me and the disease i am living with. This poem is my frustration, it is my suffering; again my hope to fight back with my disease.

This is a very descriptive and image filled poem about a horrible disease that few people have heard of. There is graphic description of pain here; the poet doesn't pull any punches about that. Also, the sense of loss of what life was like before the illness comes through sharply. The one thing I don't find here is despair. The last lines show a determination not to be overwhelmed by the condition. I will not offer any shallow platitudes of encouragement here; I can't imagine what it must be like to deal with this situation. Still, I can't help believing that with such an attitude as is shown here, anything is possible. Well done.

Those in the midst of a battle never have time for rose colored glasses. Like a woman in the depths of labor loses her modesty. A soul battling disease lays out the facts simple and straight.
I admire your courage and pray for your recovery.

Thanks for your prayer Cherrie. Love
Your courage shines through with this write. Despite the disadvantage of poor health which causes you much pain, you are determined that it won't define you. An inspirational poem. I wish you all the best.

Prayer is the best medicine to be cured. Thanks for your kindness.
This is a very powerful poem about the suffering you are enduring and the way you are going to fight back. "I know you'll get through it" is what a lot of people would say in this moment, but I want to say, "I know it hurts, and I know it seems like there is no end to the darkness, but don't let it stop you from seeing the brighter side of things, even if it is from a distance!"

Thank you for sharing this with me!
