Chapter Ten

Chapter Ten

A Chapter by Roxii

When I awoke, it was with a shock. One reaso I woke was because of my dream, the other was because of the knock at my window.

As I looked towards the window, I could see the shadowed visitor's black clothing, so I knew that I had passed out for a while. I checked my phone quickly to make sure I hadn't been needed. There was only one message, but I had not been needed right away.

It wrote:

When you are done snoozing, come to the kitchen for a night snack. We need to speak.

It was from the Black Queen.

I sighed, and then my visitor tapped on the window again.

"Oh." I said. As I hopped out of my bed and opened the window, my company smiled a wide smile and proceeded to climb in.

"Ethan!" I hissed, "If you and I get caught, we're both gonna get it."

As he jumped in, he walked over to my bed and sprawled across it, leaving no space for me.

"Relax babe," he said, "I can't stay for long anyways. They lock the doors to my cabin at twelve." He sounded annoyed by the fact.

"I know. The Queen wanted them to be locked at eleven, but I pleaded for one more for your and everyone else's sake." I smiled a little as he returned it. Then, he propped himslef up as I walked over to lay on his chest.

"I miss you so much." I said softly. And I did. The Queen only needed him when she was bored, and it's not like I could talk to him while he was entertaining the Queen.

"I miss you too Mackenzie. All the time." Then, he kissed me lightly on the lips and brought me into an embracive hug. It made me smile wide and I hugged myself tighter to him, never wanting to let go.

All of a sudden, Alexx was intensely knocking on my door and yelling in whispers, "Mackenzie! Oh Mackenzie! Please! Hurry! Wake up! Open up! MACKENZIE!"

I could tell that Aless was scared shitless. Just the was she spoke said it all. I wasn't afraid to open the door without hiding Ethan if it was Alexx. She knew he snuck over sometimes, and she wouldn't bail me out. Not Alexx; she is too good of a friend.

I half-heartedly yelled to the door, "It's okay Alexx, come in,"but she already had the door opened and closed it with the light switched on before I was even done talking.

"Mackenzie," she said breathlessly. Now I was worried, but before I could say anything in response, she was still talking, "Mackenzie, it's Kristina ... she's dead."
