Chapter Seven

    "I may be her right-hand woman," I begin, "but I don't know what's going on."

    Alexx is one of the cleaning crew ladies and my friend since before the queen's ruling.

    "What is her punishment?" Alexx asks eagerly.

    "I told you," I say, "I have no idea." I close my eyes and put the coffee, well tea, cup to my lips. It wasn't coffee or tea, it was plain cocoa. Coffee and tea are awful!

    "Well, whatever her punishment is, it can't be good. We all know she won't go easy on Kristina."

    All I can do is sigh, then I finally speak.

    "I know. Ever since Kristina went on that trip to Tennessee with her, those two never have been the same!"

    Things got quiet for a moment, and then my watch went off.

    "Well," I begin softly, "my break is over. The Queens wants me to prepare her mwal for the day, but I must check on her first. She said that she didn't feel well, so she went to go lie down." I stand up, brush my dress off, and pick up my planner.

    "It was nice chatting with you Alexx, shall we do this again?"

    A smile comes across her face and Alexx replies, "Absolutely."

    I smile and reach for my cup to drop in the wash, but Alexx stops me.

    "Don't worry about it hun. I got it."

    I smile as I thank her. Then, I'm off to check up on the Queen.
