Garage Sale Poetry:...is that me?...

A Poem by H. A. M.
"

seeing me in a positive eye for a change.

"

Garage Sale Poetry:

…is that me?...

I saw someone else

in the bathroom mirror

today.

I saw my image

I saw my image

I saw my face in the mirror.

..I think….

…but it wasn’t me looking back…

I didn’t see this body

that the shadows mock

when I come out

in day light

I didn’t see the person

that catches an insult

every other day

I saw eyes

that looked in me….

and not

at me.

I saw…… me.

For the first time

For the first time

I saw me.

I/He was larger

than what I am now.

Handsomer too…

….is that a word?

Even now in

my own compliments (or confession)

of who I saw..

that I feel

I don’t deserve

I feel awed….

.

Why?

Because I still see myself

as I am now…

…or was then?

but

that’s not

ME.

…is it?

….hmmm…

In my minds eye…

I step over my past and

try  to look  past things

that shines so brightly.

Like the plasma screen in high def

in a dark room

advertising old reruns of

stale memories and hard learned experiences

that were bad to begin with…

You had to be there.

But still…

Is that me?

Is that really me?

I look in the mirror

and think,,,

That’s someone else

that looks familiar.

But that’s not me.

…I continue to shave…

ok sorry I'm having the Man in the Mirror moment...

I think everyone has this moment....you look in the mirror one day and don't see yourself for who you are or what you are or even who you can be until you really look at yourself and take that deeper look...

as usual you never cease to amaze me how you pull us in with every word begs the question.....
it's you...it's not you..who is it..

great write love keep'em coming

much love

We see a reflection of experiences...
that make us who we are today...
more understanding... more kind...
a beauty that beholds the sun and
moon... more in tune with the stars...

story of my life. very schizophrenic.
i loved:
advertising old reruns of
stale memories and hard learned experiences

again, a struggle im a bit too familiar with.
i love it.
and the ending holds a lot of meaning, indifference, or is it cynicism?.... very strong.

ok, i'd glomp you right now if i could for the last line which ends it beatiful in the simplicity and just hits to self. out of all the blah blah proper reviewer stuff...i Love it, the flow catches at the end so deep and the words pull to rythum that hold and the ideas come, that image in the mirror eyes that aren't mine but are and a person that shouldnt but is there, a thousand words in a thought and wow i can hear, the image repeating through my ears with the words over my mind, its a piece that just meow. ok that doesn't make any sense but i love this its dives wonderful.
