Hidden Honesty

Hidden Honesty

A Poem by GypsyMelody

It was over in a flash or so it seemed,
where pain should have been,
there was only a feeling of floating,
where the screams should have been,
only silence prevailed,
it was then that he opened his eyes...

only to find that his knowledge
was her power
reeled in
overcome
by this gypsy in his eyes
enchantress of water and fire
his heart was now captured

but was it bound?
could he choose?
he didn't understand what lay before him
enigmatic or perhaps mysterious
a kind mistress or a tyrant
he took a step forward
threw caution to the wind
life is for living

in sleep he nearly died
waiting and weeping
feeding his one sickness
planning his own demise
awake at last
he now lay beside
a witch
or perhaps a fairy in disguise
but what did it matter?
heavens gates were at his finger tips
a love spell cast upon his eyes
seeing her world through technicolour dreams

a sense of peace upon a tired soul
a new lease of life
a new fire to the heart
but a fear resides
might history not repeat itself
might it come full circle once again
but no soul has a heart of iron
no soul can hold back the tide of emotion
it must bend
commit to the flow
surrender itself
bask in glory or burn in flame

condemnation is only for those misunderstood
burning at the stake only for those who see through crystal
she breathes softly these words of wisdom
reaching for his hand
trust
she's never given
despight the desire to love
underneath her dances and charms
lies the same fear
used and left alone to many times
no stranger to tears

this in common they would seem to have
for all the people in all the world might there not be a union
out of all of those who are undeserving
might fate not play it's cards in favour of him
and of her
how many times
how many lies
how many tears
the world turns
but for him it does not
as he lies there and watches her sleep
as he takes his hand and gently brushes his hand down her cheek
delicate in slumber, beauty if frailty as his minds eye would see it
his touch wakes her

she must have felt his touch within her dreams
and not known
gazing gazing gazing
into complete silence
no words describes the feeling of new love
on a timeless vertical horizon
she loves his smile
for music always follows

he see's her wake
he did not mean to disturb her
but he knows she cares not
for all the cold in the world
she warms him to the core
where his mind was once a prison
it is now cleansed of it's sickness
for once where his ideas and dreams shattered
they now roamed free
if one can look upon beauty
one can see it in everything
she smiles as he pulls his hand away
she stops him
taking his hand in hers

not disturbed in the least
only comforted by his touch
she knows life's turns
through it all
has learned to twist along with them
stories so similar
parallel paths
here they are
two wounded souls
staring ahead at roads of healing
shall they walk it together?

for a moment the same thought crosses both their minds
how might it end
but life is adventure
life is living
not existing in doubt
nor fear
the world was built on dreams
not doubt
built on promises
built on ideals
walk with me?

i'd love to <3

does dance of joy and falls over like a tit ;)

A powerful story of love. Fear can make us desire alone. Sometime take a lot to open a locked door to love. I love your usage of the language. You made the poem a great pleasure to read with amazing description. I like the ending. Even the broken must reopen the door and take a chance. Thank you for a outstanding poem.

She loves his smile/For music always follows.

That is a lovely description!

Really like the first three stanzas in particular. Unique expressions. I could feel his individual voice.

Nice piece. Thank you
