Nomad Knight

Nomad Knight

A Poem by Adam Latham

One man I seek with perfect symmetry,
One man whose sword is greater than my own,
Who can with just one stroke give unto me
A fear in life that I have never known.
I've wandered far across this English field,
A nomad knight afforded by a purse,
And still in battle I am yet to yield
To better men that they may end this curse.

Since I'm a pacifist, I tend to shy away from poems about knights. I don't take a shine to glorifying war or strife between humans. That being said, this is actually a great poem about a knight. You've really shown a distinct point of view here that defines his role as a knight in a way that makes perfect sense, but you use a fresh perspective, quite different than anything I've read about knights before. It almost makes me, the pacifist, crawl into his skin & feel that belligerent pride of being the best killer! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Sounds like a lonely existence. Interesting use of rhyme here, very creative.
